My name is Robert Houston, a builder – of hope, worth, confidence, understanding, knowledge, pathways, methods, processes, inspiration, abilities, character, and results.
Joy explodes within and around me when I partake in the building process within people – Get goosebumps thinking about it.
Things you should know about me.
~ The beginning of my building journey began when I was born into a single-parent home. The elder of three sisters and one brother. Learned how to become a builder because of the survival skills required to become a man and leader.
~ R&R Consulting, LLC Speaking with a Purpose was established in September 2013 to provide tools to build hope, worth, confidence, processes, methods, culture, pathways, inspiration, knowledge, understanding, character, results, and abilities.
~ Married my college sweetheart, and we have one daughter, son, and grandson. Now, have an opportunity to hone further my passion, which I now know aligns with my purpose.
~ Served – Rotary President (Paul Harris Fellow), Chamber of Commerce Chairman, United Way Board, American Heart Board, Boys and Girls Board, and much more. These opportunities provided me with a chance to understand the joy of giving better.
~ Provided leadership to increase sales by 151%; EBIT by 82%; and Cash Flow by 151%; thereby, assisting in making United Defense’s acquisition by the Carlyle Group and Creating one of the top business deals in the history of the organization.
~ Spent over 30 years leading, learning, teaching, coaching, speaking, and making customers happy by adding value in the corporate world (FMC Corporation, United Defense, and BAE Systems).
~ Have lived in five different states and traveled extensively; this allows me the opportunity to view cultures, pathways, methods, and processes from varying perspectives.
~ An Order of Saint Maurice recipient.
~ Attended and graduated from Gambling State University, Grambling, Louisiana. “Being a member of the Grambling State University Marching Band was a character-building and inspirational event in my life.”
~Received my MBA from Liberty University, Lynchburg, Virginia. A higher education grounded in business, life, unique cultural characteristics, and faith-based learning.
~Received an Executive MBA from the University of Michigan – Stephen M. Ross School of Business. Higher education grounded in some of the country’s best business practices; therefore, expanding knowledge and abilities to achieve desired results.
