Wisdom cannot be found in books or travel, in learning or philosophy, it is acquired by practice only. A man may read the precepts of the greatest sages continually, but if he does not purify and govern himself he will remain foolish.
A man may be intimately conversant with the writings of the greatest philosophers, but so long as he continues to give way to his cravings he will not attain to wisdom.
